Disney World Reopening After Hurricane Irma

Over at Magic Kingdom, the World Famous Jungle Cruise will remain closed for the rest of the week, at least.

All Disney Resorts will begin normal operation September 12, 2017 with the exception of Disney's Fort Wilderness Campground and Disney's Saratoga Springs Treehouse Villas.

Universal Orlando on Monday was inspecting its property "across our entire destination in preparation for an anticipated on-time opening tomorrow morning", the park said in a statement to USA TODAY.

Signs posted inside its resorts on Monday afternoon indicated that the theme parks would be back open Tuesday at 9 a.m. but the Disney water parks would remain closed. Special events, such as Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party, will also take place.

The amusement park shut down in its entirety on Sunday in expectation of the record-breaking storm, for only the sixth time in its 45-year history. More recently, the parks shuttered in 2016 during Hurricane Matthew.

Ahead of the weather forecasts of Hurricane Irma, Walt Disney World Resort made the decision to close in the interest of their visitor's safety.

The Walt Disney Co. said in a news release that its Disney World theme parks and Disney Springs will reopen on Tuesday and resume regular hours.

Guests at the parks have been sharing photos of various minor-looking damage on social media, including tree damage at the Be Our Guest Restaurant in the Magic Kingdom park, flooding at Epcot and damage near Cinderella's Castle. SeaWorld and Aquatica are planning to open on Wednesday.

The resort, which employs 73,000, was visited by 20 million people in 2016 making it the world's most popular theme park.
