'Restraint' Appears To Be Over As North Korea Launches Missile Test Again

North Korea fired several "unidentified projectiles" into its east waters on Saturday, local media cited South Korean military as saying.

The ban also prohibits the expansion of any existing joint ventures...

The Chinese military did not clarify the reason behind the drills, but these come at a time when China's ally North Korea has taken a threatening posture against the United States, heightening the possibility of a US-led strike on the rogue state.

Weapons experts say Pyongyang is sending a message relaying it's working on an ICBM more powerful than any it has previously tested.

They were launched from a site in the North Korean province of Gangwon and flew for about 250km (150 miles), officials in South Korea said.

Later on Saturday, the South Korean Presidential Blue House said the North may have fired an upgraded 300-mm caliber multiple rocket launcher.

The presidential office in Seoul said the US and South Korean militaries will proceed with their war games "even more thoroughly" in response to the launch.

The North bombarded Yeonpyeong island in November 2010 in response to a South Korean live-fire drill near the tense sea border, killing four South Koreans - two soldiers and two civilians - and prompting Seoul to return the fire.

"The reality vividly shows that the United States ambition for stifling the DPRK [Democratic People's Republic of Korea] remains unchanged no matter how much water may flow under the bridge and the puppet group's ambition for invading the north remains unchanged", North Korea's official news agency KCNA said on Friday.

Tillerson called North Korea's "restraint" pleasing and said it could open a pathway for dialogue in the near future.

Meanwhile, Japan says it will impose additional sanctions on North Korea. All US and Russian ballistic missiles are solid-fuel models.

Last month, North Korea claimed to have successfully tested a long-range missile.

The principle ensures that the military remains North Korea's highest political priority.

The intercontinental ballistic missile Hwasong-14 is seen during its test launch.

Earlier in August, South Korean Prime Minister Lee Nak-yeon rejected the opposition's calls for deployment of tactical nuclear weapons, saying it would make it hard to justify asking North Korea to denuclearize.
