The body has now been sent to the Ramsey County Medical Examiner's Office in St. Paul, Minn., Todd said, where it awaits an autopsy.

Greywind, who was eight-months pregnant when she disappeared August 19, was the subject of several large searches before her body was spotted by kayakers Sunday night in the Red River near Fargo, N.D., wrapped in plastic and duct tape.

Five days after Greywind went missing, police found a newborn baby girl in the apartment where Greywind was last seen.

The couple accused of killing Savanna LaFontaine-Greywind allegedly provided police with conflicting stories about how they ended up with the missing woman's baby.

Brooke Crews and William Hoehn were arrested on kidnapping charges after a newborn, believed to be Greywinds, was discovered in their apartment.

Brooke Lynn Crews, 38, and William Henry Hoehn, 32, thought to be the residents, have been arrested. The murder conspiracy charge carries a potential punishment of life in prison without parole.

"As law enforcement, through our investigative efforts, we will continue to pursue justice for Savanna", said Chief Dave Todd, Fargo Police.

"Savanna was the victim of a cruel and vicious act of depravity", Todd said. Crews tells police she showed Greywind how to induce labor, and then the mom came back and gave up custody of her baby.
