Everton still in the dark over Ross Barkley future

Manchester United, Manchester City, Tottenham, Chelsea and Arsenal have all been linked with a possible move for Barkley, a lifelong Everton fan. "Time for him to decide", said Koeman ahead of Friday's visit of Watford.

Only this week we saw the Dutchman offer the sternest of ultimatums to the indecisive Ross Barkley - either sign a new contract in the next two weeks or find a new club.

RK: "We know the board and Club have big ambitions to take the next step.

He improved in several aspects in his play, but I still think he can do better", Koeman said. Koeman has also stated that the club require a final decision from Barkley by the end of this season as they need clarification before starting their summer spending. That's what you like to do as a manager, develop the players.

"If we go on holiday we need to know".

The former Napoli and Inter boss, though, continues to see his position come under the spotlight amid reports of an unsettled dressing room.

Indians put Kluber on 10-day DL with back issue
Cabrera, who hit his sixth career homer off Cleveland ace Corey Kluber , missed the previous nine games with a right groin strain. The Tigers also lost second baseman Ian Kinsler , who was removed in the top of the seventh inning with left hamstring tightness.

"Everton lost at Swansea last weekend and have not scored in any of their past three matches", Lawrenson told BBC Sport.

"Of course, I hope for it to not happen and I don't like it".

Ultimately, it doesn't really feel like Barkley is any better a player now than he was 12 months ago, or even when he first broke onto the scene back in 2013.

"When we had a complete squad, we reached seventh in the Premier League and we were 10th for the majority with a fully-fit side".

Even this season, Barkley has been brilliant one week and poor the next, and this sort of inconsistency isn't going to earn a regular spot in the England team, as there are more consistent performers out there.
