Pettersen hits the front at ANA Inspiration

Pettersen hits the front at ANA Inspiration

After an early end to Thursday's play and a late start on Friday for cleanup from the windstorm, play was halted by darkness with 56 players still on the course.

But that cut would have to wait until that pesky second round concludes this morning.

"Towards the end of my second round, I was getting a little exhausted", said world No. 1 Lydia Ko, who sat three shots off the lead at 4-under 140 after playing 31 holes Friday. "There's a few doglegs left, which helps me out". That week was a lot of undulation plus a lot of heat.

A three-time LPGA Tour victor, 20-year-old Lee came into the year's first major on the back of missed cuts at her previous two events but she has thrived in the tough, windy conditions. After an extra-long day of play in wind and sun, Thompson is at 13-under 203 heading into Sunday's final round.

The 22-year-old Thompson's victory in this event in 2014 is her only previous major victory, but the American excels on the Dinah Shore Course at Mission Hills Country Club.

"I just love this golf course", Thompson said.

"But I had two rounds under par, which is good. and I had a tough day today - 27 holes and got it done, so happy with that".

The daughters of ex-tennis pros Petr Korda and Regina Rajchrtova appear to be pretty close. "Just not a young stallion anymore, I guess".

Through two days, no one has yet to fully separate from the pack at women's golf's first major of the season although going into the weekend Suzann Pettersen has a slight edge over the field. "Just chilling and hanging in my room, talking about our tournaments and catching up".

Park admitted she had been anxious about how long it would take to shake off the rust after such a long break.

She was asked her expectations for Sunday.

World number two Ariya Jutanugarn is in a share of seventh at eight-under, needing a victory for a chance of snapping Ko's 75-week reign as world number one.

Hamilton's Alena Sharp was the only Canadian to complete 36 holes.

Li surrendered yards off the tee to her powerful playing partner, but was 6-6 in fairways hit so far Friday and has scrambled well in the wake of hitting 15 of 26 greens when play was suspended.

Brooke Henderson of Smiths Falls, Ont., shot a 3-under 69 to get to 1 under for the tournament. The 15-time LPGA victor has finished in the top-10 at Mission Hills seven times, including three times a runner-up.

"Right now, I think I'm in my zone", said Ryu, who hasn't finished outside the top seven in four LPGA starts. Kerr has 18 career wins, including major wins in 2007 (U.S. Women's Open) and 2010 (Women's PGA Championship).

"I feel great", said Pettersen. I just didn't hole any putts.
