OPS camp stands tough in merger talks with Edappadi group

Senior leaders of the AIADMK Amma faction including many ministers discussed about the political situation in the state among themselves twice yesterday in Chennai.

Chennai: The merger talks between the two factions of the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra (AIADMK) suffered a setback on Thursday with former chief minister O. Panneerselvam's camp setting stiff preconditions to begin discussions. A cloak of secrecy surrounding Jayalalithaa's health during her long hospitalisation and her death on December 5 had sparked allegations that she wasn't given proper treatment and led to conspiracy theories in the state.

The OPS camp has agreed for patch-up, "if their conditions are accepted".

KP Muniswamy from the Panneerselvam camp says they never asked for the post of the CM of the party general secretary.

Terming the sudden rebellion by his partymen as a decision born out of fear, Dinakaran told reporters "they developed cold feet in the last few days". Panneerselvam, who was forced to step down as CM, rebelled, which led to a split in the party. "If an election had to happen then OPS will win". All party cadres, members and support Dinakaran.

The reproduction of the story/photograph in any form will be liable for legal action. It has been chose to lead the party and government sans Dhinakaran and his family, and today "the aspirations of people and party workers have been fulfilled and we are announcing this to them", he added.

April The Giraffe Cam Going Off
The Animal Adventure Park had previous said that it would take the stream down five days after April's birth. Their typical animal activities have won many over and have garnered a deeper appreciation for giraffes.

Dinakaran had earlier in the day convened a meeting of the MLAs backing him but called it off after some senior ministers questioned his authority.

"If this is done, we'll accept that our demands have been met", he said.

"I do not wish to weaken the party and the government by showing my capability".

Dinakaran, against whom the Delhi police has issued a lookout notice for allegedly trying to bribe an Election Commission official, said he had no intention to fight with people who are like his "brothers". If you look at history, leaders have shifted between the DMK and the AIADMK despite having spoken quite harshly against each other. Things could be resolved if both the factions talk. "We are ready to hold consultations with that team if it meets us", Twitter handle @OfficeofOPS said.

Dinakaran said he would not take any hasty decision and added that he would not act in any way that could harm the party and the government. The war was waged against the dominance of Sasikala and family.

It not yet clear if speculation that Sasikala had resigned as party general secretary is true. Law Minister C.Ve. Shanmugam interjected and said, "it is a blatant lie". Jayakumar said he did not have any information about her resignation.
