As for delivery, McDonald's executives pointed out that in key mature markets like the U.S., France, Britain, Germany and Canada, some 75% of people live within three miles of a restaurant, allowing it to use its network to bring food directly to customers' homes. McDonald's China has tripled its delivery business since launching it in 2008, and past year alone, its delivery business in China grew by 30%.
That means that by the end of the year, McDonald's customers will be able to order and pay for their food from their smartphones.
Meanwhile, the chain also revealed it will expand the use of its mobile app for ordering.
But on Wednesday, McDonald's admitted that it has lost 500 million potential transactions since 2012 to its fast-food competitors.
The Golden Arches stated in a filing on Wednesday that it is experimenting with different delivery models including partnering with third-party delivery services throughout the world.
