Netflix Reveals That Nearly Half of All Couples Cheat

In the Philippines, 43% of Filipino viewers admitted to being binge "cheaters" - although according to Internet television network Netflix, which commissioned the study, the proportion of Filipinos who don't "cheat" is 57%, making the Filipinos the most "loyal" viewers in the region. More than 30,000 subscribing couples responded, and 48 percent in the USA said they've gone ahead and watched ahead without their partners.

"Netflix cheating", according to the study is not as offensive as other forms of cheating - 32% in the Asia-Pacific Region doesn't think this kind of cheating is bad (unless you're in Hong Kong where 40% said it is bad).

It happens to the best of us: You start watching a show with your significant other and you're both really into it.

Netflix began studying the habits of streaming couples in 2013 and noticed that cheat-watching has been on the rise in the last four years.

The survey also revealed that once you've Netflix cheated, it's hard to stop: 81 percent of cheaters are repeat offenders and 44 percent have cheated more than three times.

Meanwhile, Netflix cheating has become more socially acceptable over time with 46 percent saying its "not bad at all".

The original Netflix series are just two of the most-popular shows when it comes to cheating, along with the equally-tempting "Orange Is The New Black", "House Of Cards" and "Black Mirror".

Netflix says most TV watchers are not planning to cheat; about 80% of it is unplanned.

Netflix's study was conducted by SurveyMonkey from December 20-31, 2016 and was based on 30,267 total responses.

Netflix said a majority of the "cheating" subscribers tend to skip ahead on the shows while their significant other is on a business trip, while others admitted to watching more episodes of a show while their loved one was asleep or at work.
