HPD: 8-year-old shot, killed after accident in south Houston

On Saturday morning, around 2 a.m., an eight-year-old girl from Houston, Texas, was shot and killed by a woman in another vehicle, after she survived a auto crash.

Investigators say the girl and her mother were traveling down a Houston roadway early today when their Honda Accord was hit by a speeding Pontiac.

The young girl was rushed to Memorial Hermann Hospital, where she died.

Details are limited at this time.

Police have ot said if this was a road rage incident or how the child was shot.

Thomas told the police officers that the light at the intersection was changing from green to yellow as she approached it.

This was followed by a mysterious countdown on their official website and a number of other clues dotted across the internet. The Cheese and Grain show is now streaming - notable in itself as it is the first Foo Fighters gig since November 2015.

Stark said somewhere between "five and seven shots were fired". "I want to go and pick out prom dresses for my baby".

"She was going to be somebody special", Jarmon said.

Thomas, who also has a 17-year-old son, said she is still trying to make sense of why someone would shoot at people they didn't know. She didn't deserve this. "She was innocent. She had her whole life to look forward to".

It was unclear if the Pontiac's driver and the shooter were the same person.

Thomas hopes for justice for her daughter. The woman who allegedly shot and killed eight-year-old DeMaree Atkins fled the area in a dark-colored, four-door sedan.

Thomas believes that someone knows something about the identity of the woman who shot and killed her daughter and the driver who initially crashed into her vehicle. Police are offering a $5,000 reward leading to the arrest of the suspect or suspects. Anyone with information should call HPD Homicide Division at 713-308-3600 or Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
