DEPLETED D-LINE: The Cowboys are likely to be without three starters on their defensive line: ends DeMarcus Lawrence (back) and Tyrone Crawford (hamstring/shoulder) and tackle Terrell McClain (ankle).
As I wrote on Wednesday, the Dallas Cowboys' plan for Tony Romo was ideal: Keep the quarterback bubble-wrapped on the bench - unless Dak Prescott was injured in the playoffs - in order to keep his trade value as high as possible, then ship him to a QB-desperate franchise for a couple of draft picks.
Tony Romo could make his season debut for the Cowboys whenever Prescott finishes his tuneup, though owner Jerry Jones said the veteran doesn't need any reps to be ready for the playoffs. How much time he'll spend on the field hasn't been determined, the ESPN report said.
Romo last played in a regular-season game last Thanksgiving when he broke his collarbone in a game against the Carolina Panthers.
Prescott then went and stood on the sideline with the rest of the healthy starters who didn't even take the field, such as running back Ezekiel Elliott and linebacker Sean Lee, in hopes of avoiding injury.
In addition to possibly setting another franchise record, this one for regular season wins (14) with a win over the Eagles Sunday, the duo of Prescott and Elliott are threatening a few National Football League records as well. He will become the first QB to start 16 games for the Eagles since Donovan McNabb in 2008.

I know I will never forget this moment, that hug and this video . "And I know Taylor Austin Deckard's family feels the same way". At Auburn, Newton won the Heisman Trophy and led the Tigers to their second national championship during the 2010 season.
With the best record in the NFC, the Cowboys (13-3) had already secured home-field advantage throughout the playoffs, the NFC East title and a first-round bye.
Prescott has led the Cowboys to a 13-2 record.
The Eagles scored their first touchdown of the game with seven seconds left on quarterback Carson Wentz's 6-yard touchdown pass to tight end Zach Ertz. Once Romo got into the game he wasted little time. Romo looks efficient, and the Cowboys offense looks like an absolute machine. Considering the Cowboys have a very big incentive to trade him before the 2017 season begins, avoiding risking him to another injury sounds like a good enough reason to keep him inactive.
Jordan Matthews, the Eagles' leading receiver, was out Sunday, and Nelson Agholor left the game in the first quarter. To play Tony, to get the rust off, whatever you want to call it, they're going to protect him with the playcalls anyway. Throws like the touchdown pass to Ertz show the he has the talent, he just needs help around him. It's by far one of the worst decisions to let Romo play considering his injury history.
Romo, of course, was expected to get his starting job back midseason.
