Meanwhile on August 28 five civilians got injured as Pakistan resorted to unprovoked firing and targeted forward Army posts and villages in Rajouri.

Twelve more civilians, including two women and two teenage girls, were wounded on the Indian side of the heavily-militarised Line of Control (LoC) that divides the restive Himalayan region.

Police officials said that the Pakistani army began firing on Poonch villages and posts along the LoC from early morning on Monday, letting loose mortar shells and automatic gunfire to which the Indian army retaliated in response.

Pakistan had no immediate comment on Monday's firings. "Shelling and firing exchanges are going on", Defence Ministry sources said. The condition of three of the injured was stated to be "critical".
