The two-time major champion said she hopes the money will help rebuild housing for those whose lives have been devastated by the storm. "It's nice to see yourself do that again".

Lewis embraced and kissed husband Gerrod Chadwell, the University of Houston women's golf coach, on the 18th green. She had a 17-under 199 total after opening with rounds of 70 and 64.

Ai Miyazato is two shots back after a 67, with Jodi Ewart Shadoff and Moriya Jutanugarn also at eight under par.

On Sunday, she birdied four of the first seven holes and made the turn 4 strokes ahead of Chun.

Being tied at 10-under par with Lewis, Henderson said, "Hopefully, I can just continue that trend over the next two days".

Lewis is trying to break through in Portland after finishing second twice - two strokes behind Suzann Pettersen in 2013 and four shots behind Henderson a year ago.

"I was so focused on giving every shot 100 percent because I knew what it meant", said a noticeably calmer Lewis. Everybody talks about it.

Things didn't get much better for the remainder of the day, as the 19-year-old (she turns 20 on September 10) from Smiths Falls birdied the par-3 eighth and 13th holes, but gave those strokes back with a double bogey on the par-4 ninth.

Nigeria senior national team players show support for Carl Ikeme with a customised T-shirt during Wednesday's media parley. So on Friday (today), we can hopefully get a win and move close to qualifying for the World Cup", observed Mikel.

"I don't know", she said, "just kind of handed over control and said, 'Take me". You have to hit a little fade or a little draw.

By winning this week's LPGA tournament, she earned $195,000.

Though the win was all about helping others, Lewis also heaved a sigh of relief for getting "the monkey off my back" and knowing she could "hit the shots when I need to and hit the putts when I need to". "Make some, miss some, but it's still pretty solid round", Jutanugarn said.

Lewis was diagnosed with scoliosis the same year she moved to Texas and wore a back brace under her clothes until she graduated from high school. "I think putter was good, too ..."

Yet for Lewis, who had a three-shot lead going into the final round, winning a golf tournament was far from the only thing on her mind.

Lewis rebounded from a bogey at the par-3 16th with a 5-foot birdie putt at the hard par-4 17th.

Henderson won the tournament in 2015 and 2016 and is trying to become the first golfer to win at Portland in three straight years. Lexi Thompson is playing the Portland Classic for the first time.

Chun now has five runner-up finishes in 18 starts this year. Africa was a life-changing experience for Lewis, and she returned to the LPGA with a renewed sense of objective.
