Georgia QB Jacob Eason out with a knee injury against App State

Georgia sophomore quarterback Jacob Eason left Saturday's game against Appalachian State in the first quarter with a left knee injury. The good news for the Dogs is that two of the guys that helped produce those numbers are back this season. Fromm played just about as well as you could ask a true freshman to in his first ever college game.

Smart said he didn't want to get into the logistics of where Eason went after he left the field, citing concerns for the quarterback's privacy. Fromm's presence suddenly changed the complexion of the game. Facing a free-blitzer up the middle, Fromm threw a jump ball to receiver Javon Wims, who had two defenders behind him. With pressure coming directly up the middle, Fromm floated a ball down the middle of the field, and Wims brought it down. The Bulldogs return eight starters on offense and ten on defense and appear steady in the special teams.

Eason made 12 starts last season as a freshman and passed for 2,430 yards - the fourth-most by a freshman in Georgia's history - to go with 16 touchdowns.

Fleck and Minnesota may not have played a flawless game, but it was good enough to go 1-0 to start the season after Minnesota got by Buffalo.

His third series, a floater toward Terry Godwin coaxed a pass interference call on Appalachian State that set up a 6-yard Sony Michel touchdown on a direct snap.

In the previous five elections, the Congress had struggled to go over even 5,000 votes. Panjim has been a BJP bastion since 1994, with Parrikar holding the seat for 23 years.

Georgia also rushed for 223 yards, with seniors Nick Chubb and Sony Michel almost topping the 100-yard mark. While the Mountaineers recovered, it turned into a 22-yard loss. Jake Fromm entered the game as Eason's replacement.

After a field goal to make it 24-0 midway through the third quarter, Fromm led the Bulldogs on one last touchdown drive. From there, Gerogia was able to roll to a blowout victory. Sophomore Jason Eason possesses remarkable quarterbacking skills including a rifle-throwing arm. But boy, is he a quick decision-maker. Fromm's first pass came out quick after the snap and was completed to tight end Isaac Nauta. So there's certainly high expectations for Georgia. The Bulldog secondary didn't record a turnover but did help maintain a shutout for most of the game. App State allowed only 17.8 points per game last season.

"Now it's on to Notre Dame, which has a bigger, more physical offensive line and we've got to continue to do that - we got to get better up front", Smart said. Chubb and Michel combined for 183 rushing yards in the first game of their season season. Per the student-athlete handbook, Ridley and Holyfield did sit the opener against Appalachian State.

The 15th-ranked Bulldogs will get their first chance to show that improvement Saturday night at Sanford Stadium, when they host Appalachian State.

Georgia lost three starting offensive linemen from 2016. His performance not only looms large for Georgia's success in this matchup, but potentially for the season to come. On episode No. 525 (Sept. 1, 2017) of the podcast, Georgia Bulldogs fans can hear a discussion about Georgia coach Kirby Smart.
