Brexit spoils: Who's bidding to host European Union agencies relocating from London?

EU members states have officially proposed 23 European cities that could be used as post-Brexit relocation sites for the two EU agencies now based in the United Kingdom, the Council of the European Union said in a press release on Tuesday. Frankfurt - location of the European Central Bank and a major financial centre - is seen as favorite to get the EBA.

Delegations from interested countries visit other European Union member states and try to win them over.

The European Commission will evaluate the bids in September, considering criteria such as accessibility for current employees, work opportunities for their spouses and schools for their children.

Some 19 cities are bidding to host the EMA, which is responsible for the scientific evaluation, supervision and safety monitoring of medicines in the European Union and maintains the single market for medicines in the EU.

Amsterdam, Athens, Barcelona, Bonn, Bratislava, Brussels, Bucharest, Copenhagen, Dublin, Helsinki, Lille (France), Milan, Porto (Portugal), Sofia (Bulgaria), Stockholm, Malta, Vienna, Warsaw and Zagreb (Croatia) are vying for the medicines agency.

Geoffrey Kondogbia scores outrageous own goal against Chelsea, fans can't believe it
With time fast running out, Michy Batshuayi thought he had restored parity for Chelsea but his goal was disallowed for offside. Chelsea once again started their game very slowly and were reliant on counter-attacks - something that is clearly not working.

Four member States have made the choice to propose only one city for the two agencies: Belgium, Ireland, Austria, and Poland, who have proposed their respective capitals. The group will draw membership from Government Departments and State agencies.

The banking and medicines agencies employ just over 1,000 staff between them. Nineteen countries have reportedly expressed their interest, and Croatia is one of them.

"Luxembourg has not positioned itself as vultures circling round the Tower of London waiting for all those jobs to fly out our way", Luxembourg's ambassador George Friden told reporters in Brussels.

The vote will take place by secret ballot. Yesterday was the final day for official candidacies to be submitted to the European Council. Otherwise, two rounds of voting can still be organized, keeping the nominations the most sought every time.
