Orange County Fire Capt. Larry Kurtz tells KCBS-TV that Cessna 310 aircraft clipped the auto as it crashed Friday morning on Interstate 405 near John Wayne Airport in Costa Mesa.

The crash involved a Cessna 310 airplane that landed and burst into flames on the 405 Freeway in the Irvine area, authorities said. The driver in that clipped auto told ABC7 that the plane hit the rear end of his truck, which then went out of control.

LGB spokeswoman Stephanie Montuya-Morisky said it was not immediately known if any other flights would be redirected to Long Beach.

"Spun around, had a passenger in there, saw flames all around us, thought at first it was just a big rig that hit us", the driver told ABC 7. He did say the victims were both in their 60s and were showing vital signs when they were taken out of the plane. Police closed the freeway in both directions because wreckage scattered over lanes in both directions.
