Opposition creates ruckus in LS over cow vigilantes and lynching

Congress leader in the Lok Sabha, Mallikarjun Kharge, appealed to Speaker Sumitra Mahajan to revoke the suspension of the six MPs, who had been penalised a day earlier for causing a ruckus in the House. The members raised slogans in the Well of the House during Zero Hour and tore and threw papers towards the Speaker's chair.

Six Opposition MPs have been suspended from Lok Sabha for five days for undermining the Chair's dignity with their "unbecoming" conduct, the Ani reported. Speaker suspended and adjourned the Lok Sabha till 2:30.

The lawmakers, G Gogoi, K Suresh, Adhiranjan Chowdhary, Ranjeet Ranjan, Sushmita Dev and MK Raghavan, were protesting the issue of the lynching of minorities by cow vigilantes.

According to the speaker of the House, the Congress MPs stormed the well and despite her repeated requests they did not return to their seats and continued to behave improperly.

Opposition parties, led by Congress, protested the suspension at Mahatma Gandhi's statue in Parliament House on Tuesday.

She said all this had happened despite she agreeing to a discussion on the issue of alleged atrocities against Dalits and Muslims.

The Congress on Monday slammed the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) over the issue of suspension of its party leaders in the Parliament and said that the Centre has been trying to restrict freedom of speech of the opposition. "This is a battle for Constitutional values of our country", he tweeted.

The Bill provides for prioritization of maritime claims and maritime liens while providing protection to owners, charterers, operators, crew members and seafarers at the same time. The Opposition leaders urged the Speaker to reconsider their suspensions.
