WWDC 2017: Apple announces new iMac range

Apple showed off how powerful the new iMac hardware is via a fancy VR demonstration - showcasing the "native VR support" in High Sierra - that was pretty impressive, though it's obviously hard to get a feel for how it would perform in person without going hands-on.

The displays that sit front and center on the iMac are also being improved, with brighter 500 nit displays and 10-bit dithering, which supports up to a billion colors.

The new iMac's will also get the High Sierra update this fall. The iMacs will now be fitted with Intel's 7th-gen Kaby Lake processors and can be specced with more memory than ever before: up to 32GB on the 21.5-inch display models and up to 64GB of memory on the 27-inch models. To that end Apple announced upgrades to almost every single product in its computer line up, and thoroughly fucked over every single person who bought a MacBook Pro back in November.

Along with the specifications above, Apple will also bring many new features to the iMac line with its Pro model like a 1080p FaceTime camera, UHS-II SDXC card slot, four Thunderbolt 3 ports, a VESA mounting option, and more. The 13-inch MacBook Air also got some love with a new 1.8 GHz processor. An all-in-one PC with considerably more oomph than even the new Kaby Lake-powered iMacs, the Pro is built to be fast in every respect. Still, it was impressive to see the new MacBooks running multiple 4K HDR tracks in Final Cut Pro, without breaking a sweat.

Legal experts to Trump on travel ban: Twitter hurting cause
He assailed the Justice Department for a revised version of the measure that he called "watered down" and "politically correct". President Trump reignited the debate over his travel ban after this weekend's terrorist attack in London that killed 7 people.

Now the iMacs are great machines but they have never been considered as professional workstation replacement, until now.

U.S. chipmaker AMD on Tuesday unveiled a high performance, power-efficient "Radeon Pro 500" series graphics for Apple iMac. The GPU's powering this beast will be AMD's soon to be released VEGA platform with up to 16GB of VRAM and 400 GB/s of bandwidth. Apple has integrated AMD Radeon Pro 500 in its next generation of iMac Pro.

There are reports, the 2018 model will come with a glass based design and other upgrades under the hood including a glowing Apple logo that was available on the original models.

"We're thrilled to give developers and customers a sneak peek at iMac Pro".
