US Protesters Urge End to 50 Years of Israeli Occupation

Israel later withdrew from Gaza but lay a siege to it.

Israel has advanced plans for more than 3,000 homes in West Bank settlements this week, despite US President Donald Trump's call to hold back on such projects as he seeks ways to restart peace efforts.

Indeed, less than three weeks ago, Israelis and Jews around the world celebrated 50 years since the reunification of Jerusalem during the Six Day War.

Israeli cabinet on Sunday voted in favor of a bill to slash funds to the Palestinian National Authority (PNA) over stipends it pays to Palestinian prisoners in Israeli jails.

The Israeli media have been celebrating the "reunification".

10000 evacuated, 4 dead as fires engulf South African town
The death toll in Knysna rose to five on Thursday, after a man died of a heart attack while being evacuated from his home. The weather also caused chaos throughout the city, knocking out electricity and cancelling flights and rail services.

The Israeli bill is scheduled to be presented to the Knesset Plenum for preliminary reading this Wednesday and will then need to pass second and third reading before going into law.

Last week alone, Israel advanced plans for more than 3,000 settlement homes. But even that I think goes too far.

In part, that is because of missteps since the Six-Day War on Israel's part. The "duty station" designated for the job was "Jerusalem, Palestine (State of)". There is a historic core outside of the Old City walls in Palestinian neighborhoods, such as Silwan, which is thought to be the site of earliest beginnings of biblical Jewish Jerusalem, but there are also neighborhoods such as Wadi al-Joz, which has a lot of Palestinian light industry and the Shoafat Palestinian refugee camp at the city's northeastern edge, where there is no resonance with Jewish history.

Stern's bill emulates the Taylor Force Act, a 2016 United States legislative bill sponsored by Republican Senator Lindsey Graham (South Carolina), which proposes to halt American economic aid to the PA until the latter changes its legislation regarding the transfer of funds to Palestinian security prisoners and family members, and families of terrorists who died committing attacks.

Sears released a statement Wednesday saying that they removed their "Free Palestine" shirts from its online marketplace.
