Most think Trump doesn't respect democratic traditions

The new survey, conducted by the Associated Press-NORC Center for Public Affairs Research, found more than 6 in 10 Americans disapprove of the job Trump is doing as president, and almost half strongly disapprove.

Two-thirds of Americans, or 65 percent, think Trump doesn't have much respect for the country's democratic institutions and traditions or has none at all.

This is the first time President Trump has hit the 50 percent in the Rasmussen survey since April 17.

Just before Trump's inauguration in January, 50% of voters said the United States was a more divided nation after eight years of the Obama presidency, but Republicans and unaffiliated voters felt that way much more strongly than Democrats did.

The poll, conducted among 1,068 people from June 8-11, was administered before Trump's nationally televised call for unity that followed the Wednesday shooting at a GOP baseball practice in suburban Washington, D.C.

According to the results of this poll, only 35% has expressed approval over the job performance of the President and what he has been doing, while as many as 64% of those who participated in the poll have expressed disapproval.

But a stone-faced LeBron James refused to be drawn on his plans. "It has been a insane year for me", Durant said. And if Hart were smart, he won't bet against Durant and the Golden State Warriors any time soon.

Given the mutually reinforcing effects of partisan polarization in the electorate and the intensity of both positive and negative feelings toward Trump, it is no surprise that the poll reveals that Democratic attitudes are the opposite, with the qualification that they are slightly more negative than the Republicans are positive.

Nine in 10 Democrats and 6 in 10 independents say the same. Denmon referenced recent news reports that Trump was considering firing Robert Mueller, the special counsel named by the Justice Department to investigate Russia's role in the 2016 election.

Democrats and other Trump detractors might expect mounting evidence of Trump's failings to disillusion his supporters, but there are few signs of erosion among Trump's base - even on subjects that might lead to alienation.

Health care remains Trump's worst issue in the poll, with 66 percent disapproving of his handling of the issue. Among Republicans, 80 percent approve. An average of 34.8 percent of Americans think the country is moving in the right direction - up 0.5 percent, while 56.8 percent think the country is going in the wrong direction - down a full percentile from last week.

Republican voters clearly have a favorite in Abbott, with 83 percent approving his job performance.

The AP-NORC poll of 1,068 adults was conducted June 8-11 using a sample drawn from NORC's probability-based AmeriSpeak panel, which is created to be representative of the US population.
