Hike rolls out redesigned Messenger app; brings in-app payments system

Hike Messenger has announced the launch of Hike 5.0, that offers new features like app themes, night mode and magic selfie.

Hike wallet goes beyond bank and peer-to-peer transfers also allowing users to pay postpaid bills and top off their prepaid phones.

The company will measure the consumer demand through the number of mobile recharges its over 100 million base will do, through the wallet backed by Yes Bank, which is integrated with the unique payment interface (UPI). Users can choose from over 10 different beautifully crafted envelopes and also add a personalised message to it to celebrate those special occasions.

The Hike 5.0 update also includes a new Magic Selfie feature, which is a beautification feature working on machine learning technology.

Hike, founded in 2012 by Kavin Bharti Mittal, follows the lead of China's WeChat, another messaging app and WhatsApp rival.

He added that the rollout to Android and iOS (Apple) users will be completed by June 25, while the wallet feature will be made available to Apple phone users by end of July.

Should they select an RFA, the team they are selecting him from will not be eligible for compensation as they normally would be. While Washington would still likely trade Grubauer in this scenario, they would at least be able to get something for him.

Interestingly, Chinese social media and instant messaging service WeChat has a similar feature called Red Packets, which allows users to send money across either to individuals or groups with some yuan (Chinese RMB) assigned to them.

Besides the Hike Wallet, the homegrown company has revamped the complete user interface of the application in the Hike 5.0 update. "With Hike 5.0 you can personalize your Hike world", said founder and CEO Hike Messenger, Kavin Bharti Mittal. Further, Hike has reduced the size of its app to 25MB.

Hike 5.0 now features a new slick look, with an emphasis on personalisation with App Themes.

Hike also claimed that they're the largest UPI-based platform in India now. We believe we can make that experience fun and also a new form of messaging.

"Over the last six months, we've been working to bring a brand new experience to our users with one question in mind - How do we take all the things that users love about Hike and make it even better?" It could be from a simple Thank You or Congratulations to a Happy Birthday.

Brian Acton, Co-founder, WhatsApp, was in talks with the Indian government for launching digital payments for the app's largest market, India. "We're really excited about the possibilities with this and can't wait to see how people use it".
