Senate Intelligence panel subpoenas former National Security Adviser Michael Flynn

Senate Intelligence panel subpoenas former National Security Adviser Michael Flynn

Flynn was sacked by Trump after less than one month on the job.

Flynn's lawyer declined comment to CNN Wednesday evening. He later worked as a foreign agent on behalf of a Turkish businessman, while serving as a Trump campaign adviser.

Mr Graham said it would be "helpful" to see President Trump's tax returns. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) said leaks about Michael Flynn, President Trump's first national security advisor, were "just as bad as what the Russians did".

The White House relied on Obama-era background checks to check Flynn, and former acting Attorney General Sally Yates warned White House officials about Flynn before he was sacked.

This behavior is revealing of his own risk to national security.

Flynn's Russian Federation ties are also being scrutinized by the FBI as it conducts a similar investigation.

Prior to Flynn's resignation, Vice President Mike Pence said on Meet The Press that Flynn didn't discuss sanctions with Russian Federation prior to Trump's inauguration.

Madrid Masters: Eugenie Bouchard knocks out Maria Sharapova in grudge match
The athlete branded Sharapova a "cheater" before the match and said she shouldn't be allowed back to the sport. She added: "What you work for so many hours every single day is to be on the winning end of matches".

Burr and Warner issued a thinly veiled subpoena threat last week against Page, an energy consultant who held a small advisory role on the campaign.

Russian officials have repeatedly denied allegations of interfering in United States elections and having contacts with the Trump campaign, and have characterized the charges as an absurd attempt to distract the U.S. public from revelations of corruption and other pressing domestic concerns.

Yates, a longtime federal prosecutor and Obama administration holdover, was sacked January 31 by Trump after refusing to defend the administration's travel ban. The person "we don't even know" referred to Sally Yates, who happens to be the Justice Department official that Trump named as acting Attorney General.

White House press secretary Sean Spicer on Tuesday defended the time gap, because the President wanted to review supporting materials to the Flynn allegations.

"With that being said, I'll go along with Russia", Mr. Trump said.

Yates, a longtime federal prosecutor and Obama administration holdover, had been scheduled to appear weeks ago before the House intelligence committee, but that hearing was canceled.

The FBI began an investigation in July into possible ties between Trump campaign associates and Russian Federation during the 2016 presidential campaign.
