Oilers' Talbot receiving deserved attention with post-season performances

Anaheim Ducks' Ryan Getzlaf, left, and Patrick Eaves, right, fail to stop Edmonton Oilers' Ryan Nugent-Hopkins during the second period in Game 3 of a second-round NHL hockey Stanley Cup playoff series in Edmo.

"He says that a lot, just so you know", said Getzlaf, surrounded by TV cameras and reporters after the morning skate.

The Ducks have done plenty of good things in the first two games of the series, but just not enough of them to win. Patrick Maroon then added an insurance goal in the second period.

He moved captain Connor McDavid to play with wings Milan Lucic and Jordan Eberle.

In the second period, anyway.

Silfverberg delivered some insurance in the third with a one-time shot for his second of the night, with a review holding up the goal after Oilers coach Todd McLellan challenged that the winger was originally offside as the Ducks' Shea Theodore entered the zone with the puck.

"We have to come out here and play a much more disciplined game against a team that's going to play their best game of the series", said Talbot.

"He has had some really good games", Maroon said. I think we're playing better this series than we did against Calgary. Game five will be in Anaheim on Friday.

The Ducks plan to spend the two-day break between Games 3 and 4 in Kelowna, British Columbia. He was one of three Oilers to finish minus-two.

US commander: Anti-missile system in South Korea operational in 'coming days'
Senator Lindsey Graham said he and fellow Republican John McCain had dinner with Trump on Monday and discussed North Korea. But Harris also stated, "We want to bring Kim Jong Un to his senses, not to his knees".

Now these were the Ducks we were looking for. Western Conference. The Oilers are 11-1 in their last 12 home games, 39-19 in their last 58 vs. So by no means is it impossible. "We bounced back. We got a big one from Wagner there, and away we went". "We just didn't deliver and they found a way to capitalize". The Pacific Division title is on the line so be sure not to miss this critical game 3. The Edmonton Oilers have won six straight games when allowing three or less goals. "In the playoffs, it's just as important and maybe even more important to prevent a goal as it is to score one".

In building on that initial advantage and protecting the lead after Silfverberg scored, the Oilers showed a knack for making the critical plays.

The Ducks are the more mature team in playoff years as they've advanced past the first round three times in the last four years and reached the conference final two years ago.

Vermette's look came after a goaltender interference penalty waived off a goal for the Oilers. Larsson, Zack Kassian and Mark Letestu, who scored twice on the power play on Wednesday night, have all stepped up as unlikely postseason heroes. There was little argument from the Oilers and a sheepish Letestu skated directed to the penalty box without objection.

It will be tough for the Ducks, though, if Talbot can continue to play like he did on Friday.

Wagner got the Ducks back in front as he took a shot from the right circle that Talbot tried to make a stick save on but saw the puck deflect inward behind him.

"I can already taste that delicious Anaheim craft beer", Mayor Iveson said.

"I think he did", said McLellan, on whether McDavid let his defensive game lag.

At 8:05 of the third, Evgeny Kuznetsov was on the receiving end of a great pass from Matt Niskanen with a wide-open net. "Fun group to have right now".
