Josh Gordon timeline: Browns WR still working to get off troubled path

Gordon hasn't played in a regular-season National Football League game since 2014.

The NFL has denied Cleveland Browns wide receiver Josh Gordon's recent reinstatement petition, multiple outlets reported on Thursday.

Gordon, who re-applied for reinstatement earlier this year, was conditionally reinstated prior to the start of training camp last year but it came with an additional suspension for the first 4 games of the 2016 season. As he was set to return in Week 5, he entered rehab instead, and didn't play during the year.

The NFL suspended him for 10 games in 2014 for violating the substance abuse policy, and the Browns suspended him for the season finale for missing the final walk-through the day before. But he has played in just five regular-season games since - all late in 2014, when he caught 24 passes for 303 yards. However, Gordon has said that is not the case while the drug that got him bounced from the league may actually be alcohol.

There's little question about Gordon's talent when he's on the field.

Another US Citizen Is Detained In North Korea
In April, KCNA said Tony Kim - also known as Kim Sang Duk - was detained for "hostile acts" toward the North Korean regime . Last year's party congress, the first one in more than 30 years, was a venue for Kim to reaffirm his unfettered rule.

Browns executive vice president of football operations Sashi Brown indicated at this year's NFL owners meetings that if Gordon were to be reinstated by the NFL, he might have a chance to remain with the team despite their previous statements of wanting to move on from the wide receiver. "Our decision with Josh is just understanding where he is in his process and being able to add him".

June 7, 2013 - Gordon draws his first NFL suspension for violating the league's substance-abuse policy. The suspended Cleveland Browns wide receiver has been a problem throughout his career and it has cost him again.

September 19, 2014 - Gordon has his suspension reduced to 10 games under the NFL's new policy.

July 25, 2011 - Gordon is suspended indefinitely from the program by Baylor coach Art Briles for a violation of team rules.

He has not played in a game since December 21, 2014.
