Ronaldo treble ends Bayern Munich Champions League title bid

Real Madrid forward Cristiano Ronaldo ticked off yet another major milestone on Tuesday as his side secured a dramatic extra-time win over Bayern Munich to advance to the UEFA Champions League semi-finals. He then scored from an offside position minutes later to make it 3-2.

The match was tilted in Real Madrid's favour by Arturo Vidal's dismissal for two yellow cards. In the key games, he's always there.

Bayern, the 2013 Champions League victor, had made it at least to the semifinals for the last five seasons. Arjen Robben lashed the rebound into the side-netting.

Bayern was trying to become only the third team to reverse a first-leg home loss in Champions League history, along with Inter Milan in 2011 and Ajax in 1996.

Needing at least two goals to progress, Bayern led when Robert Lewandowski confidently drilled in a penalty kick.

Madrid pulled off a brilliant result by winning 2-1 in Munich last week thanks to a Ronaldo brace, which gave them a massive advantage coming into tonight's second leg.

Lewandowski appeared to be fractionally offside in the buildup to Sergio Ramos's own goal, causing panic in the area before the defender prodded the ball past Keylor Navas. The card given to Arturo [after 84 minutes] wasn't a card.

Vidal said Kassai robbed Bayern of a chance to go through to the semifinals for the sixth straight year.

Cristiano Ronaldo scored his 100th Champions League goal as Real Madrid dumped 10-man Bayern Munich out of the competition with a 4-2 win (6-3 agg.).

Madrid boss and Ancelotti's former assistant Zinedine Zidane had a different version of events as both Bayern's goals also came about in controversial fashion.

Five minutes later, and Ronaldo had completed his treble when receiving a ball from Marcelo after the left-back made a dazzling run through the Bayern defence.
