Washington state's unemployment rate is at its lowest since August 2007, after falling from 4.9 to 4.7 percent in March, according to the Employment Security Department (ESD).

From March 2016 through March 2017, the state's labor force grew by 73,200 and the Seattle/Bellevue/Everett region increased by 41,700. The number of Coloradans participating in the labor force this year has increased 59,200, total employment increased 79,500 and the number of unemployed decreased 20,300.

The unemployment rate improved from 4.1 percent to 3.9 percent, but this was most likely the result of white men leaving the labor market in March.

The new rate remained well below the US rate of 4.5 percent in March, which was down two-tenths of a percentage point from the 4.7 percent in February.

The next-highest unemployment rate in the country was Alaska, at 6.4 percent. An increase in durable manufacturing employment of 3,000 positions was partially offset by a 200-job decline in nondurable goods.

Beijing aims to create more than 11 million jobs this year, 1 million more than last year's target, according to this year's government work report. The national growth rate was 1.7 percent.

"The labor force participation rate continues to go up". The jobless rate increased from 7.8 percent to 8.2 percent in March, which may occur when workers are optimistic about their prospects. Other services lost 1,300 jobs. And the leisure and hospitality sector reported 351,000 employed, down 900 from the previous month.
