Bill Murray Has A Classical Album Out This Summer

Never one to shy away from a new cultural adventure, Bill Murray is venturing in the classical music world in a series of concerts including one in Chicago this fall. Throughout the album, the 66-year-old Groundhog Day star will sing songs like Stephen Foster's "Jeanie With the Light Brown Hair", numbers from West Side Story, and perform select literary readings by Walt Whitman, Ernest Hemingway, Mark Twain.

The act will have its United States premiere at Festival Napa Valley in California on July 20, followed by a North American tour that will conclude at Carnegie Hall on October 16.

"New Worlds", meant to explore themes of American history and identity, is planned for a release in August.

This is published unedited from the PTI feed. Murray and Vogler will also perform at Carnegie Hall in NY in October. It will be followed by a North American tour and album release in August. It might be hard to picture the guy who voiced Garfield or knocked the heads of flowers with a golf club getting serious about classical art forms, but Vogler's respected career adds credence to the concept, and Murray is taking it quite seriously.
