Vickie Williams-Tillman, 56, was in her vehicle early Sunday morning when she saw a man violently beating an officer during a traffic stop, according to Baton Rouge police. The officer saw drug paraphernalia inside the auto of 28-year-old suspect Thomas Bennett during a traffic stop, per police.
"Ms. Williams-Tillman was able to help hold off the assailant until other officers arrived". "You don't think about the risk".
"I could see in his eyes he needed help", she told The Advocate. She immediately used the patrol car's radio to call for backup along Airline Highway before jumping on the suspect's back. He allegedly tried to grab the officer's gun as well.
Williams-Tillman, the officer and Bennett were all taken to a local hospital with minor injuries.
Along her way, she noticed an officer on the side of the road, arguing with an angry-looking man. "The call that she made saying that our officer is out here fighting, that was big". Jackson was killed in a deliberate attack on law enforcement along another police officer and an East Baton Rouge Sheriff's deputy. The police officer Billy Aime suffered wounds to his head, and Williams-Tillman injured her wrist. At that point, Williams-Tillman chose to step in.

Soon after the incident, Officer Amie was reunited with Williams-Tillman for a news conference.
"What Mrs. Tillman did is certainly not something we hear a lot", Weston-Broome tells PEOPLE.
At that point, additional officers arrived on scene and a Taser was deployed on Bennett. "For showing so much love and concern for one of our officers BRPD Salutes you".
