As is nearly always the case, the Eclipse Cross is more aesthetically conservative than its preceding concept; the XR-PHEV's hidden door handles, for example, have been replaced with conventional items on the Eclipse Cross. The Eclipse Cross will be part of a trio of new crossovers that the automaker plans to bring to markets worldwide, focusing on that hot segment instead of its more familiar coupes, sedans and light trucks.
It's not clear if the Eclipse Cross badge will make its way stateside when the crossover goes on sale here, but the transition from '90s tuner hit to family-hauler could revive more than just the nameplate.

It's not clear whether the Outlander's plug-in-hybrid drivetrain will be made available to the Eclipse Cross, though it would appear to be an obvious route for expansion of the technology that has redefined Mitsubishi sales, particularly in the UK.
All will be revealed at the big event in Switzerland, commencing March 7. The new auto is built around a shortened version of the Outlander architecture. Mitsubishi pulled the plug on the plant altogether then shut it down a year ago, according to Automotive News.
